I feel like it’s been a while since our last update.
Olivia’s doing great. The cool weather is definitely starting to affect the coloring of her lips and fingers. We’re all noticing she’s a bit bluer these days when she gets cool. I have to keep reminding myself this is NORMAL and to be expected.
We’re going to have to figure out a way to keep socks on this child. As soon as we come in the door we all take off our shoes (good for the hardwood floors). Well, Olivia proceeds to then remove her socks. Regardless of how many times we ask her to leave her socks on, she’ll end up taking them off.
Developmentally she’s just amazingly smart. The other night we were eating out and she dropped her crayon. She said “My green crayon! My green crayon!” And sure enough – it was a green crayon she had dropped. She definitely can identify all her colors now.
She’s starting to recognize letters of the alphabet. Last week we had Maddie’s friend over for a playdate and made “feeling” charts (magnetic frames with different faces smiling, sad, tired, goofy, etc on them). I had the girls glue their names and the word “Feeling” to the frame. Maddie’s “I” in the word feeling kept falling off. I said “where’s the I?” and Olivia immediately went over to the chart, pointed to the I in Maddie and said “Right here”. I was SHOCKED!
She’s very interested in playing with Maddie’s leapster. I think Santa’s going to have to get her something like that for Christmas or the fights will continue between the girls. She also still loves to color.
Maddie’s doing GREAT in school. Really enjoying her teacher and reading a TON of things these days. I’m amazed at how much they’re learning in First Grade. She’s a joy to be around.
Today is supposed to be the Apple Harvest Festival Parade but it’s pouring rain out and I’m sure the parade is going to be cancelled. Maddie was really looking forward to marching in it so she’s going to be disappointed.
Arnie and my new jobs are going well! It’s been an adjustment for me because I’m now responsible for getting both girls to and from daycare / school. Thankfully my job has a lot of flexibility in the hours so I’m working 8 – 4:30pm. Arnie’s working 8:30 – 5pm but with the commute he’s leaving by 7:10AM and not getting home until 6pm. Makes for a very long day for all of us. We’re looking forward to when his hours switch to 10 – 6:30PM.
Yay! I’m so glad to hear things are going so well over there!
I hear you on the long hours. Jay’s gone from about 6 in the morning to 6 at night. 🙁
We’ve noticed Sammy’s a little cooler to the touch the past few days. He was such a little newborn last winter, and we were mostly stuck inside, so we haven’t really seen yet what the cold does to him. I’ll keep an eye out for the blue. Do you know if that goes away after the Fontan?
Anyway – happy post. Yay!
